Yes you are right Jomot...I just came on to confirm that the GRO index for the 1952 birth had MMN as Harrison....I don't think he was born in Hull unless it was on the outskirts...maybe Sutton, or one of the othe West Hull villages.

Just to confuse us more, Mary Ann McLaren was first married to James Curtis, 13.8.1848 at St Paul's, Sculcoates. They had two sons George born 1850 and Henry.  James died 1853, Mary then married my Grt grandfather Jonas Whitham, a mason, 19.5.1857 and they had two sos Edward Whitham 1857 and Frederick Augustus Curtis 1866 during this period my grt grandfather travelled, presume for work and in 1862 bigamistly married my grt grdmother.  Jonas seems to have been a bit of a lad having changed his name to marry my grt grmother using a combination of his first wife's maiden name and his mothers maiden name.
