Mary Ann Summerbell
« on: Monday 13 March 17 22:55 GMT (UK) »
William Kemp (1876 - ) married Mary Ann Summerbell (1877 - ) daughter of Robert Summerbell, on 19th Jan 1901 at St John The Baptist, Stockton, and the family promptly vanished.

I do not know where Mary Ann was born, who her siblings and who her mother was.

Have you not looked on freebmd for a birth for her.  Or on Family search?

Have you not looked on the 1881 census which is free on Family Search?

How are you connected to the family?  If you are descended from one of their children have you tried tracing using that child?

Have you checked freebmd for Kemp births with mmn Summerbell?

Who was William Kemps father?  Have you traced William's birthplace on the 1881/1891 censuses?

I found a possible Mary Ann Summerbell born in the Guisborough area of North Yorkshire, Sept. 1876 GRO Register. Stockton-On-Tees not that far away. I am also finding, 1881 Census a Robert Summerbell, an Engine Fitter, wife Alice daughter Mary living in South Stockton. Mary birthplace Calingford? , Yorkshire. Where is Calingford?

1901 Census No Mary.

1901 Census Robert born Peterborough, Northamptonshire, and Alice born Howden-on-Tyne, Northumberland. Both born same places as stated on 1881 Census.

Thank you, so in which cases has it not proved valid, which of the children are you connected with?

I cannot fit the Cooks into the William Kemp and Mary Ann Summerbell family. My link is that Ms Summerbell is my great grandmother-in-law!

I think it was a "late" marriage of John COOK to Eliza Ann KEMP (June Qtr 1876 Middlesbro).

William seems to be on the census as COOK but married as KEMP.
