Hello Ellen,

Thank you for the Find My Past link information, I will pursue the lead and will comment later if appropriate. Time-wise it does look as if it may be him.

Murdoch(k) does appear in the article both above, and below, the photo of the S.S. Transylvania. He arrived in NYC on 09 Jan 1935 and was on his way to Bermuda.

I'm grateful for all your continued help.

George

Hi Ellen,
I've checked on FindfMyPast and note that Murdoch's Regimental No. 'seems' to read 409136 and not 402136 - or is it just my old eyes?

I think, on a balance of probabilities, we are talking about the same man who, some 2 years after his discharge on 17.01.1933, traveled via NYC to Bermuda and joined his older brother Fergus Ferguson (1901) in the island's police force on 14 January 1935.

However, still not sure of the relevance of the mention of The Lovat Scouts?

Thanks for you help Ellen & Annie.
George

Hi Ellen,

Old eyes I'm afraid. Clearer with a magnifying glass and the sequential numbering.
You are correct.... at No. 402136

All the best
George
