Marriage help needed please for Sampson and Eliza Ganfield
« on: Thursday 16 March 17 17:40 GMT (UK) »
In 1841, Sampson GANFIELD and wife Eliza and dau Elizabeth are living with his parents, John and Diana in Wedmore, Somerset.

A GRO search on dau Elizabeth, Reg. Dec Q 1840, gave no results found for mother's maiden name.
( there is a baptism 1844, but no additional info, just name date and parents and abode )

In 1851, they have, George and James
In 1861, they have, a Tom.

GRO searcnes, for the boy's
birth Regs, give AXON as Mother's maiden name.

In 1871, Jane Kingstone,  Mother-in-law, abt 1781, Greinton, Somerset is living with them. ( which suggests, her maiden name could be Kingstone, unless mother was widowed and remarried ?  But, there is a Jane AXON, base born, baptised in Greinton, in 1785, mother not named ( FreeReg ). Suggesting she had Eliza before marriage.).

Eliza, gives her birth, c 1816, Meare.

A search for a marriage for the couple ( Sampson and Eliza ) and baptism for Eliza are proving difficult.

Could fresh eyes and brain  ???, help please ?

( Mother Jane, is on census, with a John Kingstone, in 1861,1851 ( still to find them in 1841 ).  He is ex army. 28th Regiment of Foot  ).

Thank you

 :)

Thanks Giggsy.

Seems, that this Elizabeth died.
They had another Elizabeth, in 1843, the Baptism, I'm checking for a death, as she isn't on censuses.

Mother's maiden name, is AXON in 1843.

That would explain why I couldn't find Elizabeth then!

Yes, all the others are way too old in the timeframe.

I too wondered, how an age under 1year, would be entered.

( I found a 3/4 on a burial. last week, presuming, this was weeks )

"I too wondered, how an age under 1year, would be entered."

There have been a couple of threads on that subject on RC recently.

I expect someone will enlighten us!
