Might be a long shot but there is a John Wood b1832 Rowton,Cheshire lodging on Woolton Road Garston in 1861 .
Woodger  Street is off Woolton Road.

This has confirmed I have the right Elizabeth Wood nee Higginson on the 1891 census.
Wondering why John Williams Wood & Elizabeth Wood nee Higginson didn't marry
until 1871. Maybe that's why the name change from Williams to Wood.  :-[

The John wood lodging in Garston  that states birthplace Rowton   is there (Rowston) on the 1841/51 with Father Joseph Wood b1808 a Farmer.
Could have added Williams as a cover for respectability purposes
