India Office Records lookup help please
« on: Saturday 18 March 17 10:54 GMT (UK) »
Gday I'm from Western Australia and we (Rootschat) have been chasing down my dad's background. We've chased him to Walter and Kathleen Seale's family. The man's name is Robert. Is some one able to do a search for Walter's will. It could help to identify if Robert is his son. The death was in Bengal in 1937. Many thanks BettyBoopits :)

Hi All,
I am one of the many trying to help with this very big search through India, Australia and England. ;D
If no will is  offered on FindMyPast, does that automatically mean there was not a will  for Walter  Earle SEALE?
His wife was Kathleen Anne SEALE.

Thank you.

Hi,

I'm a bit late to this inquiry - all I know is what is above.  Do you have the details you need re Walter's marriage etc, the fact that his father was called Robert Henry etc (making sense for his son to be called Robert)?

I think it would unwise to assume that. There may well be errors and omissions in FindMyPast's database.

Why not just email the archivists at the BL and ask them to check the wills card-index? They will sometimes do quick lookups for no charge, especially if the enquirer is overseas.

I got the Walter Earle marriage from FindMyPast, but ancestry has 2 births & baptisms entries for Walter & Kathleen, which I can't access as my membership is UK only.

To make it easier for you. As you can appreciate after a couple of months of searching (by many people, bless them), we have narrowed it down to a few things that we haven't knowledge of.
1 - Proof of Birth/Baptism for Robert (possibly Henry) Seale. Son to Walter and Kathleen Seale 1886-1899
2 - A Will for Walter Earle Seale who died 26 Feb 1937, aged 80. Buried at Cawnpore, Bengal, India
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FGKT-XN5
3 - A Will for Kathleen Anne Seale who died 21 Dec 1925, aged 58. Buried at Cawnpore, Bengal, India
https://familysearch.org/ark:61903/1:1:FGKT-XN5
4 - Aside from the army record of the 19th Battery, Royal Field Artillery, 37837. Date of enlistment 26 July 1905, any other army records

Many thanks in advance for your time, trouble and efforts.           Betty

G'day. I'm seeking some information on a Robert Edward Seale, (born circa 1889) who worked for Trevillian and Clarke in India. I have little information on the man, and wondered if anyone can help with a background on him. Muchly appreciated, Betty
