Lane-End Kirkwhelpington John Proudlock, Innkeeper and Grocer 1849

Can any kind person give me further information about this place called Lane end in Kirkwhelpington where Anthony Proudlock was born in December 1849 at no 10? His father, John, was an Innkeeper and Grocer.
By 1851 John's wife Isabella and their 6 children, including Anthony, were living, temporarily without John, in Gateshead in Co. Durham but I can't find John anywhere in either county, and can't find a way of searching Kirkwhelpington in the 1851 census with no person's name to search on. John Proudlock does not show up under any combination of name searching that I can think of. Otherwise I would go through the whole village page by page, and with a clue, I will! But I am curious about Lane end which I can't find with address or map searches.

I can't see a 'Lane End' mentioned in Kirkwhelpington in either the 1851 or 1861 census  :-\

It is on the birth certificate! And the father was Innkeeper and Grocer. Thanks for looking. If you could kindly give me a HO Ref. for page 1, I'll look through the whole place for grocer/ innkeepers.
Is there only one enumeration district for Kirkwhelpington?
if there were at least 10 addresses there, it must be included in something else in Kirkwhelpington, eg "Village" ....very helpful!

I believe you! It's just that it's not mentioned in the census.

Odd that Anthony's place of birth in the 1851 and 1861 census is Corsenside, not Kirkwhelpington   :-\

I suspect the stay was so short that it was not important to any of the family. Anthony def. says Kirkwhelpington at least once. John had been a pitman in Fourlaws Corsenside since his marriage in 1838 and landlord of the Gun at Ridsdale Ironworks village till the Ironworks closed in 1848, and I have no way of knowing what year he went to Gateshead but def. by 1851. Thanks for the ref. I'll crawl all over it now.

If that is the search I started several days ago, yes, but I have received this birth cert since, which was a bit of a surprise.

I don't know where it was you originally found the missing John Proudlock, but he seems to be very well hidden indeed  :-\
