Thats the date on the online tree - so it would appear to me not the Edward born 1892

Not uncommon to find people attaching the wrong record to their online trees  ;D

Now see that is my kind of thinking lol... I have always thought there was something because he only seemed to exist from 1923 .. without being too cheeky after all this work you have gone to can I please ask another favour and this if you would send me the link for his military record.

I would love to see if he was sent abroad .. I know Mary's brother, my gt Uncle Paddy was living in America but part of the Canadian Expeditionary Forces .  I will also check out the address in Glasgow . just out of curiosity to see if it was anywhere near my own family..

Thank you for all this hard work .. I will try track down the death cert for 1952 see if anything turns up ...

 :)

Anna

I see that you are on An..ty.  Do a search for:

Edward Mcguigan

1892 Belfast

Father John

Mother Jane Henry

Male

Ireland

Then do a military search and the first on the list is Edward (spouse Emely Branken)

Its not hard work Anna - its part of the chase!!

Susan born 22 Dec 1914 (at Bow St. family home of Edward).  Registered 13 Jan 1915 and Edward goes awol 28th January.  Good searching AGH.

I suppose we can only eliminate Edward by finding after 1923.  Don't know how you would actually prove it is him.

Put a posting on the Armed Forces forum.  Initial response seems to say that Edward was not apprehended after desertion: http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=767914.new#new

Have found this death record for a Mary Alice Mcguigan:

Name:   Mary Alice McGuiggan
Estimated birth year:   abt 1914
Date of Registration:   Jan-Feb-Mar 1914
Death Age:   0
Registration district:   Belfast
Volume:   1
Page:   343
FHL Film Number:   0101606

Mary was born 1 May 1913 so did not make first birthday.

Also found a death for a Susan Mcguigan:

Sarah McGuigan
Estimated birth year:   abt 1913
Date of Registration:   Jan-Feb-Mar 1921
Death Age:   8
Registration district:   Belfast
Volume:   1
Page:   303
FHL Film Number:   0101608

Not sure if this is the same Susan, but I can only find one birth for a Susan.  [later found that this entry was mis-transcribed the childs name was Sarah (mothe Isabella)]

Can't find any entries of marriage or death for either an Edward or Emily Mcguigan which fits.
