Are these photos of the same man Arthur Warren ?

Yes, 23 when he died in July 1916 (19 when he married my gt-gt-aunt in Dec 1911, 18 on the census earlier that year, birth reg 1892)
Not sure if the compiler and copyright of the Cambs Roll of Honour site is important, but the photo appears to have been added by a Ron Johnson in 2016.

Jim, the Cambs roll of honour site, which ReadyDale mentions says that the first photo is of
ARTHUR WARREN
Private 14445, 11th Battalion, Suffolk Regiment, who was killed in action on Saturday 1st July 1916.  Age 23.

I think the first picture could indeed be of a 23 year old - more doubtful about the second picture - but are you saying the first picture isn't the uniform of the Suffolks?

And a further thought - ReadyDale, you are sure that Arthur was 23 when he died?  The Cambs site says that he was (married at 19), is this the info you also have?

You would need to contact the person who added the photo because at the moment he doesn't seem to be a man from the Suffolks.

I think these are two different men.

Although the quality of the photo is not good and there is not much detail to compare the two, the second man has a longer neck, squarer shoulders, and a longer thinner face (even taking into account possible weight loss and ageing) and a fuller bottom lip.

Hi there - the first photo posted was sent to Ron by myself asking if he thought it was Arthur Warren. He subsequently posted it as Arthur, when in fact, it is not. It is of Thomas Martin( not in the Suffolks), who was the wife of my great-grandmother. The photo of Arthur (my 2nd great-uncle) from the newspaper is the only one I have of him. I didn't even know about him until I started doing research into the family, my great grandmother never spoke of him I hope to visit his grave in France next year. I think I may be the only family member to do so in over 100 years. I hope this has cleared up the mystery!

Thanks for clearing that up. It is nice to able to have a confirmed photo of someone in my tree who died in such terrible circumstances, to ensure he is not forgotten.
