Surname mistranscribed as TRIMER on the MACEDON which arrived in Adelaide in Jan 1853.  9 births on the journey.  Son William aged 6.  No other passengers that could be them and Maria is born c1830 which is the year of birth of Maria TANNER who married James CRABBE in 1861.

Thank you so much for all this information. As always you post the full picture.
I did have some of it but it was not making very much sense to me.

The mis-transcription as "Trimer" on the Macedon, I did see that one.  However I checked the  Index to Official Assisted Passengers - sailed on the Macedon, and it was transcribed as "Turner".

I also looked at the microfiche for the "Macedon", it was difficult to read.  However looking at the SA BMD Registrations of the births of James & Maria TANNER, I have to accept that it is indeed "TANNER".
Yesterday a light switched on in my brain, and I thought I would do  a search for a marriage for Maria TANNER, and I found the one in 1861 to James CRABBE.  I followed to see if there were any children and found Maria has reverted to her maiden name "HUNT".

The last child born to James Crabbe and Maria Hunt/Tanner was 1873.

I presume Maria's first husband James TANNER was deceased when she married James Crabbe in 1861.  I don't seem to be able to find his death, then I would be happy to find Maria's too.

If I'm on the right track this has given me a whole other family to follow.

This is great information you are finding for me.  I'm attempting to put it in all it's correct place.

That marriage of 1852 for James Tanner and Maria Hunt, makes sense to me now.  Because the child William Tanner age 6 years (b.abt1847), on the Macedon is probably James Tanner's child with first wife??
