WW1 Newspaper photo 1918

I was wondering if any of the newspapers in the Oxford area would have had photos of soldiers killed in action during the first world war. I know we have some in Lancashire.
It's just a chance that there might be one of my Great Uncle who was killed in 1918, he was from St. Aldate's and his name is on the plaque outside the church?

It had never crossed my mind to look for photograps of my dead rellies in newspapers, just accounts of their various court appearances and BMDs.  Now I have something new to add to my to-do list!

Have you tried the British Newspaper Archive?  I think some Oxford newspapers have been digitised but I don't know which or for what date.  I believe it's an ongoing project though, so new titles and dates being added on a regular basis.  Accessible from FindMyPast if you have a subscription but the search seems to be better on the BNA site.

The local newspapers were full of death in action notices together with photographs. Often very detailed. I started off with Newspaper Library at Colindale (they've moved now, National Archives,) but there was and probably still are lots of local collections of original newspapers in Public Library Local Collections and the Newspaper offices records if still existing.

I expect German Military Intelligence were avid subscribers.
