Stretton/Bodle Marriage
« on: Wednesday 22 March 17 18:02 GMT (UK) »
Hi hoping someone can help me with the marriage date and place for Charles Stretton Bapt 3 May 1710 at St Mary the Virgin Willingdon Sussex son of William Stretton and Elizabeth Iten and Jane (Jenny) Bodle Bapt 18 April 1708 at Hailsham Sussex daughter of Edvardus Bodle and Jana Alchorne. All of their children were Bapt at Willingdon but I can't find a marriage. I think they probably married Abt 1732. Thanks

Do you have access to baptisms to check the baptism of their oldest child Mary Bodle Stretton Baptisted 27 Jan 1733. Looks like she was two months old when her parents married maybe the year should be 1734!

Remember the calendar year was not Jan to Dec at that time so the baptism may well be after marriage.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calendar_(New_Style)_Act_1750

SFHG records show the baptism as 27 December 1733 in Willingdon.

There is also a baptism for Mary daughter of Henry and Elizabeth Stretton in 1730.
