Hi there Barbara. I haven't researched Margaret MILLAR's siblings, or her parents, so I can only say that it's a possibility.

Sorry to eavesdrop but my Grandfather was a James Millar born 1880 in Ballygelly Broughshane His father was John Millar and his Grandfather was James Millar do you think it's the same family ?

Barbara
Barbara - if you're still around, I have researched the siblings of Margaret MILLAR. Margaret had a brother called John, who married Rose STRANGE, and they had a son, called James, on 15th May 1880.

Hi John ...just got this message I'm still here...this is my grandfather ..got my DNA done recently and one of the matches was for a son who went to live in America.
I think my grandfather was one of 4 children Rose, John, James and Andrew.

I would be grateful of and other info you have.

Barbara

An interesting morsel of information is available from Racavan valuations 1863-1880. It shows land ownership moving from William MCCULLOUGH, to Martha, to John.

The 1881-1890 valuation book shows the same land passing between John MCCULLOUGH, Margaret MCCULLOUGH, and Jane CLARKE.

The sequence of deaths which explains the land transfers in the previous 2 posts -

William MCCULLOUGH died 1863
Martha MCCULLOUGH died 1877

John MCCULLOUGH son of William and Martha, married Margaret Scott CLARK in 1874. John died in 1883. Margaret, wife of John, died in 1888. The land then passes to one of the CLARK(E) family.

Another potential daughter of William and Martha was a Barbara McCullough who married a John Black in 1865. Here she is in 1901: http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Antrim/Shilvodan/Creavery/916531/

Scotmum - I would like to thank you for this hint. A McCullough researcher, another descendant of the William McCullough who was my wife's great grandfather, has had a DNA match with a descendant of Barbara McCullough (Black), confirming Barbara's relationship to the family.
