hi
I have been transcribing a number of wills and it is a slow process -- legal script is awful and each hand is different.
However most wills follow a formula of a kind and phrases reoccur in various guises.

I have found Google useful - stick in part of a phrase and up comes the rest often -- and can then cut and paste to save typing.

A few phrases to help get you started

"I W M of the parish of E in the county of S, Occupation, being of sound mind memory and understanding do make publish and declare this to be my last Will and Testament, in manner and form following that is to say I give and devise"

"as aforesaid and bequeathed to my said "

"my household Furniture Plate China Linen Glass and implements of household "

''Proved at London with a Codicil the 3rd  February 1820 before the Judge by the Oaths of E S Wo [widow| the Relict and S C S Occupation the son the Executor to whom Administration was granted having been first sworn to duly administer."

"I the said X the Testator have set my hand and seal /that is to say/ to the first  sheet thereof my hand and to this last sheet set my hand and seal"

c sometimes looks more like r
An infinity symbol with the bottom out is used to fill a blank in a line.
First word of second page is often on bottom of first

Give it a go yourself and have fun. You can do it.

Thanks Rosie.

I will have a go at cropping and attaching it on here.

It's an interesting one.  Made in America and involves estate there and here in Cornwall, in 1888

Oh no it's too big I will have to try something different ...  lol

Its 1.30 am here.
If this is on Ancstry and you print name so I know I'll have a go -- during daylight hours.
I think page 2 is the most important.
My eyes are not wonderful but if I can enlarge it I should manage and most of the phrases seem familiar. I can not make out the parish unenlarged but if I do it should work.

The farm etc goes to the wife for life or until she remarries if that helps.

good night
