Whyte family of Kirkcaldy (18th century)
« on: Thursday 23 March 17 12:42 GMT (UK) »
Hello,
I am looking for information on and ancestors of a Thomas Whyte from Kirkcaldy, who in 1732 went to the Dutch Indies.
He was possibly baptized in Kirkcaldy 25 July 1708 as son of Alexander Whyte and Alison Hamilton.
Can anyone tell me if this may indeed be his baptism and if anything is known about his Kirkcaldy relations?
Thanks!
WHYTE (QUHYTE) - Kirkcaldy (17-18th cent.)

Can't answer your question, but there's a street in Kirkcaldy called Whyte's Causeway.

The staff at Kirkcaldy Museum and Art Gallery might have information about streets and their names.

Robert, cannot help with your original question but just wondered have you come across an Elizabeth Whyte born about 1782 daughter of Thomas Whyte and unknown. She married James Williamson in 1806.
