Thomas Horatio Halford - b.1822 in Jersey or Guernsey

I am struggling to get past an ancestor of mine. His name was Thomas Horatio Halford, he was either born in Guernsey or Jersey (confusion due to difference on two census's). He was born in 1822. I think his father might be John Halford. I can't seem to get further than that.

Thomas married Harriet Sarah Rangecroft.

Can anyone help me, please?
