Henry MERRITT, born 1837 Manchester

Hello,

Henry MERRITT was born c1837, the son of James MERRITT, a Carpenter/Joiner, and wife Mary Ann (nee REYNOLDS), both born Ireland.......See 1841 Census HO107/577/22, p.8.

Can anyone please confirm if this Henry MERRITT died in Quarter 4 1874 (Free BMD), and, also, if he married.

Have you managed to track him through the censuses from 1841 - 1871, that would show if he was in the right area for a 1874 death and if he married?

The Henry that died is about the right age.

Members of the public do not have access to info on death certs so you would have to buy a copy to determine if he was the right person

There does seem to be another Henry Merrit born 1837 Ireland, living in Lancashire though, so really the death certificate might be needed.

The 1841/1851 returns showing the father, James, are correct, but not the first reference as he was languishing in Parkhurst Prison at that time.  My main task is to confirm or otherwise the possibility of his death in 1874, the index age 36 is about right, and for completeness any indication that he married.

There are various "Family Trees" which reinforce the childhood profile but no details beyond that.   Sadly, there have been no responses to my enquiries to the Tree Owners   Hence my approach to RootsChat
