A look up and information please.
« on: Saturday 25 March 17 20:28 GMT (UK) »
Hello
I apologise in advance  ::) ???
please can you help with some information on a man called Walter Sheriden/Sheridan 1829 who married Mary Ward.1837 It may or may not have been Dublin.
They went to America and arrived in Kentucky ?? after the 1860 census, had 3 kids and died all before the 1870 census , which I find incredibly sad.
Any information you can offer will be appreciated.
I cant get into any records from here again, something to do with vpn's not working.
Many thanks

Just by a fluke clicked onto a flag on ancestry and found their dobs.
Sorry for any inconvenience

Walter died in 1869 from Consumption (TB) daughter Mary died 1930, Daughter Catherine died 1940. Walters wife died in 1867 & he married again. There is a detailed Tree online.

Yes, I saw thanks. Seems they have some wrong information. I had quite a lot in this mirror tree, and I'm still no wiser where the match is. Tell you DNA records are a pain, and because DNA can't lie you have to keep at it. However I didn't realize he married again.I will get back on it. Thank you. No one else seems to think he married again either.

I am looking for him on a ship or at an address/birth/baptism in Ireland. Which part is anyone's guess.  If anyone can help please I would appreciate it.

Why didn't Census people write something other than Irish and give us a fighting chance!

You would need a location i.e county in Ireland that he originated to source RC Baptism/Marriage records.  You could check www.nationalarchives.ie for Tithe Applotment records which are 1820's/1830s these would give you an idea of where in Ireland the surname existed. I know it is annoying that the censuses only give "born in Ireland" no location. As for Ships records it is very early if he ended up in Kentucky I wonder if he could have left through UK
