Image on glass but can you date this picture please?

I hope that someone might be able to date this picture which I think is my great grandfather.
He was a pork butcher from Stretford nr Manchester
The picture is a positive on a piece of hexagonal glass obviously it was once in a frame.
Perhaps the technique or the clothing style will help

What you have is an 1850's ambrotype.
First arrived in 1851 but was superseded in the early 1860's by the more common CdeV.
More likely the 50's as the large barrel bow tie was a common feature of that decade.

Reminds me of Abraham Lincoln  with a slightly wider (and younger)  face.
