Re: Robert Farren

Hi All,

I am hoping someone can help me fill in the blanks.  Robert Farren was married to Margaret McLaughlin she died in 5 March 1895 in Muldonagh Dungiven Co Derry age 50.  In 1901 and 1911 census Robert is not to be found.  I have found a record on the Ellis Island website for a R Farren travelling on the Furnessia arriving 16th September, 1895.  Could this be him?

Thanks for all your help

Kieran

The passenger list says Robt. Farren, age 49, blacksmith, native of Ireland, going to Philadelphia for a protracted sojourn.  No other personal detail on that page.

Hi all,

Thanks for all your help.  This looks like him as he was a blacksmith and I assume he was around his wife's age as there is no death listed for him in Northern Ireland.  What is a protracted sojourn and can he be found in Philadelphia at all in any of the census.

Thanks for all your help it is very much appreciated

Kieran

I think protracted sojourn means he planned to stay for a long time.

Have you checked the census records yourself at www.familysearch.org?

I m sorry I haven't been able to get the parents name as can't find the marriage between Robert and Margaret McLaughlin it would of happened in 1860's as first child born in 1869.

The 1920 Montana census image shows his naturalization date as 1892 (and unknown immigration date).  Either that date was made up, Robert forget when he was naturalized, or it isn't your Robert?
