Thanks for the replies. I must admit I looked at other trees on Ancestry and this has probably misled me somewhat with the mother - Harvey does not sound like the right option but it sounds like Saunders is correct...

On the grandfather William Brock, I'm no longer confident any of the earlier information I suggested is correct. More digging to do.

Matt

Hi again, their may be some connection re your assertion in your initial post to a Grandfather Brock b c 1826 occ Blacksmith and a G Grandfather William b c 1801, as the Edward Brock who married Mary Jane Every was a Blacksmith, in 1851 with parents William 1799 & Martha 1799 and siblings, all born Cornwall

Children all baptised Marhamchurch all Father William Mother Martha

Edward BROOK 16th November 1826

So Edward Brock and Mary Jane Every are William Edward Brock's parents?

That would eliminate the West Indies William Brock. How can you tell who William Edward's parents were?

Thanks.

Hi well other than the obvious/necessary purchase of the birth certificate of William Edward in 1862, or if not willing, a close look at the census returns for Mary Jane Every /Brock( Maiden name HAMBLY) and death of an Edward Brock?

Hi again, I am certain that Mary J Hambly/Every/Brock b c 1829 Polperro or at least Cornwall was the mother of William Edward Brock, her first husband was a William Every who she married September qtr 1848 Plymouth v 9 page 433, his death looks to be William Every March qtr 1857 Stoke Damerel 5b 222 aged 34.

It is Mary J Brock post 1871 I am having problems with?
