Hester Matilda DUPRES, Cardigan 1827/8
« on: Tuesday 28 March 17 09:54 BST (UK) »
Hello,

Can anyone help me with Hester Matilda Dupres please?

Censuses and other records suggest that she was born in Cardigan around 1827/8 and died in 1894.

Hester had one son, Henry, born 1850, who appears to be illegitimate.

Matilda always gave her place of birth as Cardigan and in 1851, the only time she was living outside of Wales, gave her profession as Professor of Piano.

Grateful for any help on tracing her birth

Matt

the 1861 census shows her as a widow and son Henry born in France. Do you have any details from his birth?

The only Hester Matilda in the parish records is Hester Matilda Mitchell bp 18 Feb 1825 daughter of Thomas, draper, & Matilda.

ok, looks like birth in France could be a fiction. 1851 census shows Henry born in Marylebone and there's a baptism 26 July 1850 for Henry Dupres son of Henry Haywarden Fazarkerley & Hester Mitchell birth noted as 27 December 1849.

So, baptism for Hester looks correct.

Thank you SO much for this Osprey, incredibly generous and helpful.

Please can you just let me know the reference for the baptism as I can't see that?

Many thanks again.
