« on: Tuesday 28 March 17 12:58 BST (UK) »
James Belcher, b. 1830/1831 married Mary _, b. 1832/1833.
Margaret Belcher, b. 1826, sister of James
James, Mary, and Margaret Belcher from Armagh arrived in Philadelphia 23 Oct 1851 on the Shackamaxon.
They were Protestant, assumed Presbyterian.
Can anyone find evidence of the Belcher family in Armagh? Thank you VERY much!

There is a baptism in Eglish Co Armagh on Nov 08 1936 of a Margaret BELSHER
Father Alexander; Mother Isabella; Address TAMLAT

there are a few more as BELSHY and BELSHAW
name variants at that time are not unusual as literacy was an issue

At this time you are depending on church records as it is before civil records
This means without knowing a specific parish to look in, your search will be difficult

Also if they lived close to the border with another county the records could be in that county rather than in Armagh

The Griffiths Valuations shows a William BELCHER in Armagh (c1848) LINK

Are there Twiggs in Newtown/Newtownards?
A US census indicated Eliza Twigg, cousin, was living with James and Mary Belcher.

only looked 1845 to 1850, but you can search
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/civil-search.jsp

just put Surname and Year Range in and see if you spot anything....
