Need help with William Bailey (1821)
« on: Tuesday 28 March 17 16:28 BST (UK) »
Hi all

I need help finding a birth or baptism record for William Bailey. I have a record of him in the 1851, 1861 and 1871 Wales censuses, which all give a birth date of about 1821 and a location of simply 'Isle of Wight'. He married Alice A Jones in Swansea in 1842 and died in Swansea in 1876. I've looked around on Ancestry but to no avail. Any pointers for where I should be looking?

Thanks very much
Samuel

There is a William Bailey born 1821 on the 1841 Census in Godshill Isle of Wight. Head of household is Samuel Smith Publican, so it looks as if he was in lodgings.

On the Glamorgan Marriage Transcriptions it states William is a Mariner and his father is George Bailey a farmer. Hope this helps  :)

Thank you all! I've found an 1820 Baptism record from Whippingham in the Isle of Wight for a William Bailey born to George and Charlotte. Sounds hopeful!
