Looking for Children's Home information
« on: Wednesday 29 March 17 06:43 BST (UK) »
I'm not sure where to start with this one.
My father and his two brothers were sent to a children's home for maybe a couple of years in the late 1940s. At the time they had been staying with grandparents in Rumney, Cardiff. Memory suggests that the home was possibly Hereford or Wiltshire way, certainly not in Wales.

Does anyone know where I could even start to try to find information about this?
The only surviving brother was a toddler at the time. He thinks he remembers some link to a TV personality from that era - Gilbert Harding.
Cardiff- Davies, Thomas,
Forest of Dean/Symonds Yat- Farr
Barnstaple - Symons
Bideford - Labbett
Newcastle Emlyn - Davies
Devonport - Budge, Goodman

Gilbert Harding was at the Royal Orphanage of Wolverhampton in the 1910-1920 period.

From 1944 it went on to become the Royal Wolverhampton School.
