BEATRICE ALICE WILSON (nee Caten) South Africa

Have used your fantastic service before.

 Returning to a long standing mystery. What happened to Beatrice Alice Wilson born 1886 ??(Loughton in Essex/England). Married in Bathhurst South Africa in 1909 to Lewis James Wilson who died 1st Feb 1924 in Cape Town (Ostrich Dealer) and is buried in Maitland.

Beatrice then traveled with her only son Leslie Broadbent Wilson to London and  arrived 9th July 1924. Found them on a passenger ship.....The Durham Castle. She used her sister as a forwarding address ...Bertha Simons (nee Caten) living in West Ham/Essex.

The son Leslie is then placed in a Boarding School and eventually joined the RAF in 1929 in England. Beatrice effectively then disappeared, sometime after 1924.

We now know that she went back to South Africa because some personal effects arrived in London to her son circa 1953/1954. She never remarried so was still a Wilson. We suspect she went back to Cape Town but she did have a sister Sarah Keziah Rodwell who lived in Jo' burg and died there in 1956.

So have just acquired this record from NAAIRS so whilst the christian names are reversed is this our lady........

I found this, A B M Wilson b 1883 left London in 1936 bound for Durban (Port Natal) South Africa. Could this be her?

I do suggest that you copy and paste what you have posted so that you can be sure of getting the right file.  Estate files can also run to many pages so be sure and be clear on what you want.  I would ask for the Death Notice because if it is properly filled in there is a lot of information on it.

The SAB file the source code indicates it was held by the Native Commissioner Pretoria so not sure if it is your Beatrice.
