Mary Ann Lervey, nee Collins, of Bedminster
« on: Wednesday 29 March 17 13:02 BST (UK) »
I am trying the locate the birth and family of me 2x great grandmother.
Married; 18/1/1863, St Jude, Bristol, to Joseph Lervey. Bride aged 29, daughter of Joseph Collins, collier. But the couple were living together as man and wife on the 1861 Census.
In the 1881 Census her birthplace is given as High Littleton, but I could not seem to locate her there.

Have you noticed the birth in 1856 of Eliza Priscilla Lervy. Mmn Collins, reg. in bedminster,
And a nonconformist baptism in 1858.

Looks like they were together in 1856,

Mike

1851 has a Mary A Collins born 1833 High Littleton but father is William not Joseph.
However he is a coal miner and Joseph was a collier.

Mother of this one was Martha and she has a younger sister Martha

In 1861 William and Martha have a grandson Philip Turvay age 10 with them.  Turvay is quite close to Lervey so might be worth checking him out just in case.

Easier said than done can't find anything else for him or a birth - who was he.
Apologies for digressing if this family is incorrect  :-[

Thank you all for your replies.
I am indeed aware of Eliza Priscilla Lervey - she was my maternal grandfather's mother.
She did indeed have a sister by the name of Elizabeth - although she disappears after the 1881 Census, when she was living with her widowed mother.
I don't seem to have a Philip Lervey on my family tree as yet. But the name has appeared in all sorts of guises, everything from Survey to Leroi in various databases! I'll have a look at that family group. Sometimes Christian names also mutate! My great uncle Charlie, for example, wasn't known by this name to officialdom!
