John Lervey of Winford
« on: Wednesday 29 March 17 13:06 BST (UK) »
I am trying to locate the marriage of John Lervey, christened 18/4/1784, Winford, to Sarah, born c1783. The census states that his wife was born in Wells, but this could refer to the surrounding countryside as much as the city.
Sarah Lervey was buried at Bedminster st John 5/4/1863, aged 80.

Thanks for the suggestion.
I was aware of this possibility, but there seems to be no supporting evidence, so I had it down as a possible. I did try to locate a Sarah Gould in Wells, and the surrounding parishes, but with no luck.

Thank you for all your suggestions.
I'll have to look again at freereg, they seem to have posted more info since I last tried to break through my brick walls. Next time I'm at the SRO I'll see if there are any references to Sarah's bastardy in the St Cuthbert records. Nothing appeared on the on-line catalogue, which usually included anything brought up at the Quarter Sessions.

There is also a Bristol marriage of John Lervey to Elizabeth Hewlett 20th April 1806. Whether this is the same man, or a namesake, I'm not sure.

I have discounted the marriage to Elizabeth Hewlett, as a John and Betsey had a child christened in 1814, after the first child of John and Sarah was baptised. So this must be the correct marriage.
Who this second John Lervey might be, whether related or not, I have no idea.
