Ah I see, so she was born in the work house. as far as I know from what my family have told me she was probably left there.

If you look at the workhouse link it gives details of what records they hold, it also mentions homes where pauper children would have lived

Not easy as not an uncommon name & we don't know Mary's age. If she was very young when she had Emma, I did find an 8 yr old Mary with grandfather Charles in Wakefield in 1901; RG13; Piece: 4286; Folio: 91; Page: 35

There is another possible Mary Sharp who married Robert Webster in 1910, they appear together in a neighbouring town in 1911

Hello, just catching up on these. Thanks for the info about the Mary's. I guess there isn't any way to ever really know for certain is there? Its just a bit of guess work!
