Frederick Weymouth Matthews
« on: Wednesday 29 March 17 21:53 BST (UK) »
Hi there. My Great Uncle was born Frederick Weymouth Matthews on 09/08/1891 in Kings Norton (this was in Worcestershire at this time but only became part of Birmingham in the 1960s).
Moved around with family (dad James Mum Maria and two brothers Ernest & Wilfred)
He was in Cardiff in 1911 and I have recently found out he died in 1977 in Southend on Sea in Essex. (hence the reason he is being mentioned on here)
I also found out last week that on the 1939 census he was in Enfield in Middlesex but the shock is it mentions he was married. Now her name is NOT on this census and he died alone (he has no headstone) so what I want to know is 1. When did he arrive in Southend. 2, What was his wifes name and did she come to Southend with him or not? & 3. anything that may help me track his timeline etc and if there are other family here

Thank you Julie

Hi,

This may or may not help, but Enfield falls within the Edmonton registration district, this being so there is the following from freeBMD:

Marriages, Sept Qtr 1918

Matthews, Frederick W to Tucker, Doris M W; Edmonton; Volume 3a Page 1046.

Hope this does help!

Kind regards

David

Thanks everyone for the help. I have not been able to find the 1939 census again and so have forgotten the address, but I'll keep hunting
Now I have a quandary about his brother Wilfred. Born 1894 in Birmingham I have a feeling he may have emigrated to Canada but not really sure. The last thing I can find is him in 1911 with his brothers and because I don't have the 1939 census cannot fid him anywhere. My friend looked on Ancestry and thinks he emigrated to Canada in 1912. I do have photos of a family in Canada near the Niagara Falls and they are of Uncle Wilf and Aunt Lottie? If anything concrete can be found I can then check further Thanks
