Northamptonshire & Rutland Militia records

Hello

Are there any records for the Northants & Rutland Militia?

I have a John Cunvin (or Convin) born 1846 in St.Pauls Bedford who at age 18 was unmarried, a shoemaker, and joined the Army, 2nd Foot regiment, on 11 June 1864 at St.Andrews, Northampton. His army papers are available on Find My Past. These say he was previously in the Northants & Rutland Militia which he had to leave prior to joining the army.

Seems the Northants & Rutland Militia was formed in 1860, amalgamated from the Northants Militia & the Rutland Militia. In the book Militia Lists & Musters by Jeremy Gibson it says that held at the Public Record Office Kew are County Regimental Returns, (names listed without location in county) - Northants & Rutland 1856-1876;  reference WO 13/(1639-45)

So that might be worth looking at if I ever visit The National Archives
