It just seems so unusual as he's the only one with a odd middle name.
And my Irish family seem to stick to the tradition names, it sticks like a sore thumb i feel like theres some meaning behind it or its a spelling mistake but for what i don't know.

His parents were married on the 11 July & he was born on the 17th July 1893 they were really cutting it fine the banns were only read twice by the looks of it!

It's a hard one for sure!

I'm thinking, depending who was writing it, could it be a wrong spelling for Conville depending on how it sounded?

That's my penny's worth?

Is it Carnee, the name Catherine just below your entry starts the same Ca, and it looks like ending double e.

Just like Tarnwater I think it definitely starts with CA as in Catherine
and then I think it ends with EL, based on the Michael further down the page of baptisms

Wondering if it is CARMEL?

July 16th is the feast day of Our Lady of Mount Carmel

Carmel would make sense.

I was hoping the name would be a clue to break down the brick wall around his mother family!

I'm going to look up all the names and see if I can see any other possibly.

But now you've explained Carmel I feel it could very well be right.

Thanks, everyone
