Carter Kaup, WA - what happened to him?
« on: Friday 31 March 17 10:12 BST (UK) »
I have found an entry for my ancestor violet lytle's fourth marriage,  to a Carter kaup,  Washington county in 1931. Can anyone see what happened to him? Did they seperate, divorce, or did he die? I also found a marriage a few years later for a violet kaup to another man in washington. I can't see details but wonder if this was her remarrying again.
Violet elbra's 'marriages' in order were to MORROW, TOMKINS, LYTLE, KAUP.

It looks like the actual marriage record has him as Charter S. Kaup of 185 16th St., Portland, Oregon.

He is on a list of United Spanish War Veterans in Oregon in 1938 - http://gesswhoto.com/spanish-war-pg3.html

Here is his WWII draft registration card with no mention of Violet - https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QVJT-RS5C

He died in Oregon in 1961- https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:VZ49-942

Here is his burial - https://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=3904160&ref=acom

Thanks!
Looks like they must have divorced or separated then. Anyone see anything for the other potential marriage in 1938/9 to Joe?

Roy R. Lytle is one of the witnesses for Violet's 25 Jan. 1939 marriage, so I'm guessing that's a relative.  Her groom's name is transcribed as Joe Govosule, but it looks to me to be something like Joe Favonsula.  His surname is hard to read, so that could be off.

Looks like this is Violet in 1940 - https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:K936-HLC

And possible death for her husband - https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:N31V-JXT

Thanks. How interesting! Yep, definately her then as Violet's son was Roy Lytle. Looks like he would have been her last husband then.

Can anyone see what happened to Carmella Favasule, the stepdaughter? I would love to get in contact with her family!

I found a Social Security application and a marriage for Carmela, so this seems to be her on the Social Security death index - https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:V9PR-7Y4  Washington death index says she died 28 Mar. 1988 in King Co.  Her husband may still be living.

Ok thanks. That's a shame. If she were alive, it would be interesting to contact her for more information. I don't think her husband would know too much. Will consider tracking him down.

Find it interesting that Violet had five husbands total! Three legal ones, and two defacto (as I haven't found certificates). I am a descendant of the first husband.

On a similar issue of a lack of marriage certificate, Giuseppe (Joe) Favasule and a previous wife thought they were married, but their naturalization attorney discovered that they only got a license and never had a ceremony.  http://oregonnews.uoregon.edu/lccn/sn83045782/1921-09-11/ed-1/seq-14.pdf
