Awarua Station Invercargill - Bluff Railway Line

Seeking any images or other information of the Awarua railway Station 13.3 kms from  Invercargill on the Invercargill - Bluff rail line.

The Awarua Station was destroyed by fire on 14th April 1965 and finally closed by the Railways on 31st July 1965.

Any information or assistance would be most appreciated.

Yes I have looked on Digital NZ and yet to find an image there.  Re the file at Archives NZ:-

I visited Archives NZ in Dunedin last week and copied that file and a few others as well.  A couple of very useful plans etc in there of the Awarua station when built in 1913, but again no images.

The railway station is actually known as the Awarua Junction Station and can be found by searching on Google for "Bluff Branch".  The first hit is on Wikipedia that also provides a map of the Invercargill - Bluff Railway and all the stations in between.

Have also tried the Hocken Library Photographs and the local city library.  Here there was a photograph published in the Southland Daily News on 15.04.1965 when the station went up in flames at 3.15am in the morning.

Hi there long time no hear !! 

Yes that photograph of the Bluff station is very common.  The one I am after at the Awarua Junction station is nothing more then a small two room building, quite common in the railway system about 10kms or so back up the line towards Invercargill.
