Have you tried http://www.iannounce.co.uk/  incase he has died?

Or as Rosie suggested the probate index.
https://probatesearch.service.gov.uk/#wills

Or if you know any younger family members names, social media such as Twitter or Facebook.

Before doing all that though, I'd try and check he wasn't still alive by contacting his last address. Waste of time hunting for deaths if he's simply moved or maybe stopped using the computer.  ;)

Much quicker to do "all that" online, rather than writing to him from abroad and waiting for a reply  ;D

"Dear Philip,

I am writing to you because I am concerned that your internet provider closed your account due to your demise.

I would appreciate a reply from you at your earliest convenience to confirm or deny whether or not you are deceased.

Kind regards

If you say which town/county/country then others might chip in with more relevant/local ideas and knowledge.

I would agree with that especially for local newspapers.

They may have a local 'Advertiser'/'Gazette' or other which only covers that particular area not like the 'Sun'/'Daily Record' etc/

Recently Orange,FSNet and FSWorld amongst others closed their internet services,if he was with of those then he no longer has internet access !

He will have to have taken it up with someone else if he wishes to still be able to email.
A lot of people didn't realise that- see here ...
