I note that the 'Find a grave' contributor does not state her sources.

The present-day St Alban's Church in Oxford is located in Charles Street and was established in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.  I remember my old primary school taking us there from time to time as it was the nearest church.
Edited to add:  http://www.ssmjchurchyard.org.uk/st_albans_church.php

If there was a St Alban's in Oxford in 1796, does anyone know where it was ???

I've checked the OFHS Marriage Index CD and found this:

6 Jan 1794
William COLLINS married Elizabeth GODFREY at St Aldate's Church, Oxford.

OFHS transcripts for St Aldate's confirm this.  Original PR images are available on Ancestry.

Not sure if you have access but Ancestry now has lots of Oxfordshire records previously only viewable by visiting Oxford.  :)

No, I only checked the marriage records because 'St Alban's' didn't look right.

For baptisms where you don't know which parish, try asking OFHS for a search of their baptism index (there's a very small fee).  Alternatively Ancestry has virtually all of the parish records online.  You can sign up for a 14-day free trial with them, or ask your local library whether they have free access - I use the public library here in Broome, Western Australia.

Thanks for the kind thought Phil :)
Luckily for us, we're on the opposite side of the country so we weren't directly affected this time.
