Canada Voters List 1949 - showed Olive and John R McLeod living at Thirty Sixth Avenue SW - with a student son D - Bertha Keeley was also residing same address.

George Keely/Keeley and Bertha Culhane did not marry until 16 June 1896 Simcoe, Ontario.  The 1891 census shows him single - where does the information about Ethel Keely 9 February 1889 come from  ???

Former Taber Banker Passes John Ryerson McLeod, 55. of Calgary, a well-known banker in Alberta for many years, died Sunday in Edmonton after a lengthy illness. Funeral services were arranged for today In Calgary. The late Mr. McLeod was born in Okotoks, the son of W. E. -McLeod, pioneer oilman. He joined the staff of the old Bank of Hamilton at Vulcan as a Junior clerk. When the Bank of Hamilton was merged with the Canadian Bank of Commerce. Mr. McLeod continued with the latter moving to Taber. Later he became branch manager of Brant In January, 1948. he moved to Calgary, entering the superintendent's office of the bank. He served overseas during the First World War and was a Mason.

George Keely/Keeley and Bertha Culhane did not marry until 16 June 1896 Simcoe, Ontario.  The 1891 census shows him single - where does the information about Ethel Keely 9 February 1889 come from  ???

In the 1891 census Bertha is with widowed father as also single, and has a sister Ethel age 2 (1889).

Thank you all for your excellent research.
Ethel's birth date is recorded on the 1901 census as are the exact dobs for the rest of the family. Presumably she was born 'out of wedlock.'
