Trying to find Petro/Pietro Adolphus LUSARDI
« on: Tuesday 04 April 17 15:07 BST (UK) »
My Great Grandfather, Petro/Pietro Adolphus LUSARDI possibly sailed from Southampton, UK, to New York in 1906 at the age of 29.  He appears on the UK 1901 census as a waiter in London.  I have tried everything I can to find out what happened to him when he arrived in the US but this is a huge brick wall.  He may not even have known that he had a child on the way.  My Grandfather always said that his dad took one look at him and disappeared but I'm not sure.  My Great Grandmother, Ellen PARKER took the name LUSARDI but I don't even know if they were married.  I'm hoping to find someone who is tracing their branch of the LUSARDI family and who has a missing link back in the UK maybe.

There's a family tree with another Lusardi child born in Middlesex 1909 so he must have come back (unless that child had a different father)
Hinchliffe - Huddersfield Wiltshire
Burroughs - Arlingham Glos
Pick - Frocester Glos

It's on the ancestry website but the owner of the tree has the same name as you so maybe it was one you did previously?

There is a photograph of Ellen and son Petro on it.

Ah found the birth for the other child

Lusarde Catherine

Jun 1909 Hendon

Mothers maiden name Parker

so unless that isn't true the father didn't stay in New York permanently from 1906 - unless Ellen went out there too.

Have you got a passenger list for the father going to New York in 1906?

There's a Kathleen Lusardi age 2 which could be Catherine in Strand Union Workhouse.

Thank you for all this.  Yes, it's my tree that I'm currently working on.  I do have a passenger list with him on, and the arrivals bit but then it goes completely cold.  The marriage between Ellen and Peter (maybe it is Pietro!) is so interesting and I've just ordered the certificate.  I also have all the records of when she, her son and daughter were in the workhouse too.  Interestingly Catherine has the name LUSARDI but her birth certificate has no father on
