Thanks Lisa - yes I see that as a real possibility, though I get the impression the Robinsons were running a store as well as a bank, so that could also be the source of money for the bank.  But money was certainly there - Edwin and Eliza travelled to England at least 6 times between 1906 and 1923 - admittedly they travelled second class, but they would still need some money to keep doing it.  But people who were opening up far flung parts of the USA got their land for very little, so if they were good at what they did, could make a lot of money, I imagine.
