Hello, Lady Haywood, I just going  though my notes and found you and I  thought would let you know something I found out .You helped me quiet a lot with Thomas and Margaret GAGHEN. but we got stuck. It was my fault. the letter I received in 1996 stated that the Gaghens came on the Grand Trianon ship  1855  but Was wrong. You were on the right track .The ship they came on was the "Fitzjame" arrived in Adelaide 31st December 1855.and had their daughter Ann with them. So the records that you found was for them  in Enniskerry.   I let Cando know also . As these are the books in the south Australian library and the S.A.H.S.  The first Thomas and Mary were from Galway
So in the olden days when people looked it up by hand, they would have just thought it was them.
So now the harder part is "who are their parents "and "where did they come from". Family History  has come along way  with hard work from all. if you can help let know what you need.
thank you and Cheers Gail

Yes it is great news , my question is should I start with church  records, in Wicklow  or Enniskerry
as that is were they were married .Thomas was 35 and Margaret was 23 in 1855. I am hoping to
go to Ireland next year. so I can "find my Roots " :) :) :)
Keep in touch Cheers Gail.

Here are the parish records Enniskerry
https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0476

There is limited information. You could try searching for your people but as the marriage record was a parish record, there are no fathers’ names.

Hi, yes you are right I found their Marriage and Ann's batpised dates but no other information.
I worked out that Thomas was born maybe 1820 and Margaret about 1832. What are births like
to fined  in the  years  that  I need .in that  That  do you think?  or I am just happy with Enniskerry.Cheers Gail :) :)

If you take 1832 as an approximate birth year, there are a few possibilities. You cannot rely on ages always being exact.

You could look at these baptisms for Margaret Toole

15th April 1827   Parents Patrick and Sarah
16th April 1827   John and Anne
3rd November 1831   John and Judith
18th July 1832   Alexander and Mary
24th July 1832   Edward and Elizabeth

There is a published tree which has Alexander and Mary but I don’t think it is verified.

You have Ann’s baptism- do the sponsors names give any clues?

The Parish Records begin 1825 so too early for Thomas.

Hello  Back again Have been having a great time "chasing" the Family. The new branch is the CANERON Clan. Peter CAMERON born Inverness Scotland, wife Mary Mc Gillivary married 1845 Inverness came out to south Australia  on the ship Omega1852.
I would like to find out about Peter's  parents where they were born and was he born there also, I hope to travel there next year, so thought there might be a church or information what I could go and see. Thank you for your time Cheers Gail
