I think the wait for service records at the end of last year was only four or five weeks. Not sure what we're up to now.

(A few years ago I waited about a year for my father in law's records).

no I did not have to prove my relationship I just mentioned it in my covering letter. My uncle died 50 years ago - I don't know if more proof is required if your relative died more recently.
