Mystery parish!
« on: Friday 07 April 17 15:08 BST (UK) »
in 1747, William Rawson m Ann Chapman in Leicestershire. The licence states that William was from Nottingham; the parish record (with original spelling!) reads,

"Maried by licance William Rawson of St Michales Nottingham and Ann Chapman of St Maryes Leicester"

I can't see any mention of a Nottingham parish of St Michael - any suggestions?

The only problem with that is that the church wasn't built until the late 1800s

The marriage Allegation clearly state that William is from Nottingham, and is a Hosier.  The Allegation states that he is of the parish of St Nicholas in the town and county of Nottingham.

The full images for both Bond and Allegation are available on FindMyPast.
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
