If you are thinking of getting the death notice Minnie, there are memorial notices put in for the years 2003, 2005, 2006 and 2010. ;D

Which newspaper(s) KHP?

Minniehaha.

Try the Taranaki Daily News, Wanganui Chronicle and the Dominion Post.  2008/2009 put in as plain Slyvia.  Never know what additional information for names Memorial notices could provide.

Seeking information about Sylvia May HEAL born unknown NZ about 1912 probably in the Patea area. She married Herman Joseph LAMBERT in 1933 in NZ  Folio 4455 ...
Two children under 16 yrs were shown on his enlistment. Herman Joseph Lambert supposedly remarried in 1945 to Chrissy Mayzie HOSKIN WILSON.
Trying to ascertain Sylvia's - Birth (and parents), Divorce, a remarriage, Electoral mention, or Death of Sylvia or her possible children, a still born male in 1937 is listed, a
... names supplied of possible children, I've removed - they may still be living (all may not be living in 1942). Many thanks from Australia.

Hi Casey

Can confirm from NZ records the following information :

Divorce : LAMBERT - Sylvia May  v. LAMBERT - Herman Joseph
Obviously there was a divorce (and probably this took place in New Zealand ? ) as both parties
re-married here.    I cannot see an index listing for a Divorce nor is there any mention of it in any of the online newspapers of the day.  However, not all Divorce records are shown on Archives New Zealand's website, Archway.
Can confirm Herman Joseph LAMBERT's re-marriage did take place in 1945 to bride you have named.
Sylvia May LAMBERT had married a Robert John BARNES in the previous year.

Yes, there are "electoral details" for Sylvia - she remained in the Wanganui district until her death.   It appears though from these e/rolls that Sylvia and Robert John, did not always share the same address - especially in later years.

Regarding the possible children you named earlier (who may still be living), your best information about them, will likely come from any death or In Memoriam notices that can be sourced for Sylvia.

Aramoho Cemetery, Wanganui

Using KHP's link to Aramoho Cemetery records, you can find a burial record for Robert John BARNES - retired labourer late of 4 Terrace Street - aged 79 years - buried 12 April 1984.  This is possibly the second husband of Sylvia.

Re reply #21 and newspaper notices. Of those mentioned, I just have access to the 'Dominion Post'.

However as I am now only able to visit the library infrequently, I cannot say if or when I could search for the notices.

It may be best to obtain these in some other way.

Hi Casey

It may be that the Wanganui Library (who have family history researchers available) can assist you with finding the death notice or In Memoriam notices in their local newspapers.  It's worth contacting them anyway.  ;)

Here's the link >

PS  :  Wanganui fairly recently reverted to the original spelling of its name "Whanganui"
which means you need to apply both spellings when searching.   ;D
