This has the look of a shipping line uniform rather than a military one (at least a British military one) so I don't think campaign is necessarily relevant.  However, there are others more versed in matters maritime than I so I leave it there!

I have a crew list for a relative who served has 2nd engineer on the Liverpool steamer the SS Agnes Jack in 1873. Do you think this could be a uniform for the rank of 2nd engineer. cheers Guys

Suggestion - if the shipping company to which the Agnes Jack belonged can be identified, then that might help identify the badge/uniform.  Had a quick look in newspapers but haven't found a company name.  Others may have better luck.

The Agnes Jack was owned by John Bacon (the Bacon Line) when it was wrecked in 1883
