Where did my topic go?
« on: Sunday 09 April 17 06:38 BST (UK) »
On Thursday I created a topic in Suffolk Lookup Requests called Record on Ancestry for Rose Saunders, 1906, Suffolk. It was answered and I thanked the person, but the topic disappeared before I had a chance to write down the info. Why was it removed and why wasn't I notified of its removal? It was accessible through this link http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=768960

Were you asking for a look up on Ancestry as requests from subscription sites are not allowed  :-\

It may be that the reply breached guidelines, eg it was a straight cut&paste of index , rather than a fresh transcription.

It should re appear after any issues have been edited out.
This site is "staffed" by volunteers, give them a little time.
All census look up transcriptions are Crown Copyright http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/

Thanks for replying. I understand now but I didn't realise this, I thought it was just the 1939 register we couldn't ask for lookups with.

Where in suffolk?

She died in Woodbridge registration district but she lived in the parish of Mendham so I wanted to find something to be sure this death was right for my person and the Ancestry record gave a good reason for the death being where it was.

Woodbridge is quite a way from Mendham
The Suffolk County Lunatic Asylum was in Melton, which was in Woodbridge district
So that might be a possible reason.
Could there be a Rose Saunders in the Lunacy Patients Admission Registers? Date of admission, the asylum name/county, and date of death (if applicable) should be given. Can be found online.

Yes that's the conclusion I came to before I asked for the Ancestry lookup. I didn't get any extra info from the lookup but knowing that that Rose died in the Asylum gave me reason enough to suspect the death cert was hers even though it was far from Mendham, so I bought the death cert soon after (Thursday afternoon). :)

It does look quite likely to be your Rose. Good luck with certificate!
