Were you asking for a look up on Ancestry as requests from subscription sites are not allowed  :-\

Thanks for replying. I understand now but I didn't realise this, I thought it was just the 1939 register we couldn't ask for lookups with.

You can ask for a look up just don't mention which site you have seen it on  ;D

I should have said that does exclude 1911 census & 1939 register which we are not allowed to ask for  ;)

Hi lanercost

When topics breach our guidelines for posting either being a specific requiest for a look-up from a subscription site (naming the site and dataset as yours did) or a copy and paste of the results, the copyright team do try to edit the request or response so it complies and keep it on the boards.

http://www.rootschat.com/help/posting_guide.php

However, some posts can't be edited without them looking like swiss cheese (full of holes) and nonsense.

It is not always possible to contact people to let them know what has happened because of the numbers of posts the copyright and moderating teams have to deal with.

I know it's not always convenient but try your local library to see if they offer access inhouse to Ancestry Library Edition or FindMyPast as many now do because they are so popular.
