What census do you have them on?

Were they travellers as you have posted on the Travelling People board?

I can't find a record of their marriage.  Alexander was born in Montrose in 1846.  Their children were born in different places all down the country until they got to Warrington, where my ancestor was born in 1890.  5 years later Mary died and I can't find anything else on Alexander.

Where?  How old was she when she died?

Freebmd has a death in Warrington aged 33 but it was 1891 - not 1895 - please confirm

Found them in 1881 in Lythe Yorkshire - address "hut on railway".  Suspect you already have this entry which would have been useful to include in your opening post

On Mary & Margery's birth registrations - mmn is Riley - not Reilly.  On Isabella's it's Rillie

Alexander Herschel was my great great grandfather, story was he was kicked out by his family when he was 21 became a shepherd and settled in Newcastle working for a wool company. That's what my granda said.
