Set of three photos for dating please all taken by RELPH Huddersfield
« on: Sunday 09 April 17 21:20 BST (UK) »
I have a set of three photographs of what looks like three siblings.  I'd be very grateful if somebody could put an approximate date on them for me please.

They were all taken by RELPH, of 57 New Street, Huddersfield.

Thanks for looking.

Sandra

The style of the really big hair bow (as shown by all three girls) was around 1911.

Added:  and whilst we may mock modern 'outrageous' styles, you've got to admire the boy's carefully studied fringe  ;)

Thank you all for your replies.

I think the boy's hair is wonderful!  I haven't been able to find anything similar online but it must have been a fashion, unless he was a trendsetter.

Yes, lovely photos.  Just a shame they can't be identified - if only someone had thought to write a name on the back.  I shall continue to trawl through my family tree and see if I can come up with possible matches.  At least now I have a date to base my search on.

Thanks again
Sandra

Sorry to bother you again, but I've just noticed that the back of the photo of the young man is different to the other two.  I don't know why I didn't look before.

I can't find anything online about Relph of Huddersfield but wondered if anybody would have any idea of a timescale for the one which says 'Relph Photographic Artist'?

I also wondered whether the small numbers in the top right corner of the other card would be the date it was taken/printed as it would fit in with the 1911 date you've given me for the hairstyles.

Thanks
Sandra
