Need help to identify Gt Gt Grandfathers Uniform
« on: Monday 10 April 17 20:02 BST (UK) »
Hi All

I am looking for any help to identify my Gt Gt Grandfather Edward Lauderdale's uniform and also anything else I can find out about him. He was b1866 in Northumberland and living in Durham County by the outbreak of WW1.

Thanks
Brian

Shoulder title "T" usually denotes TF however this is placed over the County name & as you can see this is on it's own.
He's wearing the pre 1916 economy tunic so at the moment I would say he's pre war TF.

Thanks Jim. You will have to forgive my ignorance but what does the TF stand for. Cheers Brian

Thanks Philip. Unfortunately I can't be sure this is him as other information states that this man was 41 years old when demobbed. Mine would have been near 52. He died in 1920 aged 55 years.

Thank you Jim. Feel a bit stupid now :-\ It was fairly obvious once you stated it. Totally appreciate it.

The medal card is also on ancestry.co.uk - Northumberland Fusiliers Cl P
Gives date of enlistment as 10 Nov 1914, date of discharge 8 Apr 1918
Also gives a cause of discharge - I think it's
A.0.265/14
2.B.I
Might be a site that helps decipher this abbreviation?

On 1911 census there's an Edward Lauderdale age 49 born Bellingham Northumberland , worker in coal mine, living at 45 Derwentside Cottages, Ebchester, Medomsley, Durham, with wife Mary and 2 daughters Ada Lauderdale, 10, and Sarah Wood Lauderdale, 5. Could this be him? (Census indicates there were 8 other children)

Thanks YFS

Yes, that's my family. Most of their children were either in service or left home by the 1911 Census. My gt grandmother, Edward & Mary's daughter was in London working as a Servent.

My main curiosity at this time is more the Military side. Especially relating to Edward. This is the only photo I have of him and I find it intriguing.

As for the records I think this is the man who was only aged 41 when he was demobbed due to something to do with his spine.
