I am trying to find a Spencer Pryer age 32 in 1871he was born in South Lynn Norfolk parents William and Sophia.
Spencer was in the 23 regement of the welch fusiliers and could have been in barracks in Chatham

Hi Reedy,

They were married in Brompton as you said.

The Register Nr is 020 R03 and Entry Nr 17

You can obtain a copy of the marriage certificate from Medway Registrar at a cost of £7.00. They normally prefer you to write enclosing a cheque made payable to Medway Council.  Their telephone number is 01634 338899

They do not have their records available on the web, but I speak to them a fair bit and they did a lookup on their system as a favour. Normally they will only give information upon written request.

Hope that helps
Adrian

Hi Reedy

You may want to try asking Strood Archives Centre. I asked them a query about a street name in Chatham and I got a reply (for free).  I think if its a simple query and wont take too long they may just do it for you.

They have all the census records for Medway, if they haven't got Gillinghams, then Gillingham Libraray has them, Gillingham Libraries phone number is 01634 281066, sorry don't know their email.

Strood Archives Centre details are on Kent page, see the message 'Medway Registration Office'.  I think they like requests in writing so try an email, you never know it may work.

Good luck

Hi Reedy
I have checked 1871, and sorry there is nothing indexed for either Sarah or Spencer Pryer tried all spelling variations, the 1871 census was taken on the 2 April so should be around as a married couple unless he is in a non indexed county,or serving abroad.

sorry
